Lightly Boned Stays

I made these stays to my measurements for my Advanced Costume Techniques course.  I worked off a historical pattern from the late 1790's.

I also made the hat from buckrum and wool!

From a historical pattern book, I used the scale to sketch out an enlarged pattern and then cut and spread it to my measurements.
Each pattern piece was cut out of the silk brocade fashion fabric and lined with coutil. Then boning was added.
The binding is hand cut satin bias tape.

At the back and armseye, grommets were added for closure.
